Rocking The Daisies Must-See Bands (Part 3)

bloc-party-050629-799747Excitement for this year’s Rocking The Daisies 2012 is mounting party people! Three sleeps and I’ll be there, cracking open a cold one at Camp Tiger and letting the good times roll.

So in this, the last instalment of my must-see bands, I am going to be tackling the bands you can’t miss on the main stage on Saturday.

Sure, there are other stages and other bands I could be covering, but as mentioned before, I can’t research every band at the festival so if there are other acts you think deserve some love, hit me up in the comments section.

Desmond And The Tutus New Video (Zim Zala Bim)

ZimzalabimMagicians are badass. Well, maybe not badass, but they’re better than clowns. The only real-life clowns I’ve encountered reek of BO, stale booze and paedophilia.

Magicians are legit though, which is why I dug the new Desmond And The Tutus video for their track “Zim Zala Bim” which, you guessed it, is about a magician.

The video stars the same dude they used in the promo video for the new album, which some people thought was pretty damn funny (this guy) and others thought was basically the worst video they had ever seen. This video is a lot tamer, but the song itself is awesome.

New Desmond And The Tutus Single

Desmond_the_Tutus_2A few weeks back, I posted the whack infomercial for the new Desmond And The Tutus album, Mnusic which is going to be landing shortly.

It got some mixed reactions – personally I thought it was pretty damn awesome but one or two of my readers felt that they’d taken the whole thing a little far.

Any way you slice it, it got people talking which is the important thing. Fast forward to this morning and I get an email from ol’ Dezzy himself (aka Shane) saying the first single from Mnusic has landed, as has the video,  which is shot in the same, spoofy low-budget vein that the infomercial was.

Desmond And THe Tutus Infomercial – Too Far?

728-400-1Some people who have seen Desmond And The Tutus’ infomercial promoting their new album Mnusic think it’s shot in bad taste and is a poor attempt at marketing this band. But I’m not one of them.

The infomercial features a bullshit cure-all doctor who could have literally stepped off one of those dodgey pamphlets they hand out at traffic lights and is packed to the max with awesome.

People who want to be mermaids, failed attempts at slicing tomatoes, fucking rats that eat your feet and a narrative that makes absolutely no sense at all are just some of the things that make this video amazing.

The Road To Synergy: Part 4 – SUCCESS!

wtf_catYOU GUYS AREN’T GOING TO MOTHERFUCKING BELIEVE WHAT FUCKING WENT DOWN YESTERDAY! THE CRAZIEST SHIT, LITERALLY THE CRAZIEST SHIT YOU COULD POSSIBLY IMAGINE!

After that mopey “I give up” post I wrote because I’d completely lost hope that I’d ever get tickets to Synergy and get to interview Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (one of my favourite bands of all time), EVERYTHING changed!

Thanks to Mr Dan Nash, the organisers of Synergy, a little badass called Paula K and most importantly, Grant Gelt from New Sound Artist Management I now not only have two tickets to the festival, but a photo pass so J-Rab can get shots from the photo pit and they’re doing what they can to arrange an interview on Saturday!
